When selecting a suitable donor, we always try to match the type of male partner of the couple being treated as closely as possible. We take into account not only height, eye and hair colour, blood group and Rh factor, but also interests that may be important to you.
We test our donors psychologically, genetically and for infectious diseases.
Men who were included in the donor programme underwent demanding tests and examinations: psychological interview, clinical examination, tests for sexually transmitted diseases (hiv, hbsag, hcv, syphilis), blood group and rh factor, genetic examination (karyotype, presence of cystic fibrosis gene mutations, spinal muscular atrophy).
All donors are preferably university educated. Sperm donation in the Slovak Republic is anonymous by law. Only sperm from donors screened according to Directive 2004/23/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council are used in the treatment with donated germ cells.

We have a large number of young, healthy donors in our database, so we are able to find the best possible match for each couple in treatment. For this reason, there is minimal waiting time at Repromedica.
Men and women admitted to our donor database have undergone the following medical examinations and tests: health check-ups, tests for venereal diseases (HIV, HBsAg, syphilis, chlamydia), blood analysis and blood group and Rh type with genetic screening test for disorders (karyotype, cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy...). Donor women also undergo a complete gynaecological examination, including ultrasound and hormonal profile analysis.

In Slovakia, up to 15-20% of couples deal with the problem of sterility. In 30% of couples the cause of infertility is only on the male side. For some of them there is only one option to become a parent - fertilization of the partner's eggs with donor sperm.
Donor sperm is used in all standard assisted reproduction methods where the partner's sperm cannot be used. Sperm donation is mutually anonymous - for both donors and recipients.
A suitable donor undergoes 5-10 donations, our clinic fully compensates donors for the costs associated with the donation (travel costs, accommodation, meals, proven necessary incidental expenses, time spent in the clinic, discomfort) up to a maximum of € 600.
