What is a native cycle?

Did you know that we are only fertile for 5 days each month? During a native IVF cycle, no hormonal drugs are used to stimulate the ovaries. The method is suitable for women with regular ovulation, which is accurately determined by monitoring hormone levels in the blood and ultrasound examination. The aim of the treatment is to obtain one mature egg, which is then fertilised using the ICSI method.

What can you expect with a native cycle?

Ovulation monitoring (day 1-13)

Folliculometry at our place (8th - 10th day of the cycle)

Monitoring of hormonal levels in the blood.

Egg collection and sperm collection (day 14)

You will be sedated for about 10-15 minutes while the doctor collects your eggs. You can expect mild pain, but most women return to normal activities the next day. On the same day as the egg retrieval, a sperm sample will be taken from your partner. Once the egg is retrieved and the sperm is collected, the embryologist fertilizes the mature egg using the ICSI method. The resulting embryo is allowed to develop for 3 to 5 days and its quality is closely monitored.

Embryo transfer (day 19)

Approximately 3-5 days after collection, the embryo is transferred back into your uterus. You don't need sedation for the transfer - it only takes a few minutes and there is usually minimal discomfort. Note: If additional genetic screening of your embryos is recommended, you may need to wait up to one month between collection and transfer.

Pregnancy test (14 days after embryo transfer)

14 days after the transfer, we recommend taking a pregnancy blood test to see if the embryo is developing into a fetus.
